Planning Blog: Music Video Conventions

Props

Since we decided to do a duet as our music video, we will need more props then usual. Our main prop will be a telephone. Other props that we will use are a chair, a bed, and a table. We also may use another person.

Costumes

In our music, there would be 2 or 3 on camera. The person playing R Kelly will wear a plaid shirt, a hat, and some baggy jeans. The person playing Usher will be wearing a white/black tee with some jeans or joggers. It may be a matching set. If we decide to add a third person they can wear whatever they please, mostly likely two pieces of casual clothing.

Schedule

On 11/13/20, We decided to work together and picked out the music video we wanted to do.                    On 11/16/20, We begun to research the codes and conventions of a music video.                                      On 11/17/20, We started to planning our music video.                                                                              On11/18/20, We will start to work on the storyboard for our music video.                                                  On 11/30/20, We will begin to film our music video.                                                                                    On 12/1/20, We will start editing our video.         

Location List     

The music video will take place inside of an hotel or a house. There will be scenes where the characters are in the same place and scenes where they are not. Some parts will take place over the phone in a bedroom. If we decide to add another person, they will also have a scene by their self that may take place in a bedroom or a living room.

Backup Plan

If what we originally planned to do cant happen, we will change the place of where certain scenes take place. For example, if we our not able to film with each other we will each film our self separately and edit the videos together. If a third person can't be added, we will have to create a scene to replace what would have been theirs.

 Hi, it’s me, Maiyah. Well, we’ve finished filming and now we’re unto editing. The group decided to edit using Imovie. I have used it before and other members of the group have used it too.  I haven’t edited a part yet but i have giving my input on how it should be edited. One of my suggestions was to add non-diegetic music to a certain part of the film instead of using diegetic sound. I’ve suggested other things. The whole group had. I can’t quite remembers who’s doing the bulk of the editing but i believe it’s Ryeyauni. Although she’s doing most of it, we all will contribute. Vaseline commercial

This was my first film project ever. Due to it being my first I was very excited. I ran into many problems that I never would have thought occurred. For example, uploading this video. As I type this I have no idea on how to upload it because everything I am trying is not working. Hopefully when you are reading this, it will be visible😂. On a serious note, I feel as if this project has taught me a lot when it comes to being both the director and the cast. It has also taught me a lot about editing and filming. Before I started this project I had little to no knowledge on filming my own commercial. Moving forward, I feel that the next filming project I do will be even better. Although this project could have been done better, I believe that I did a nice job for it to be my first time. During the whole process many things had to be changed. Planning for final task: Title design

Planning Blog Font: Title font for our group will be bolded in impact font while the other titles are heltivica font  Contrast: All the titles will be white with a back outline/ our movie titles will be a large focused font size that is clear and readable to the audience, while the other title credits will be medium sized, around the font size of 48. Spacing: The default spacing is the spacing that will be used to display all of our titles, and enhance  Working Title: Our title for our movie will be "Too Much" The first scene of the movie when the main character is being recognized inside of their room waking up to get ready for online school is when the Title will emerge across the screen from a diagonal point crossing the screen and moving side ways at a steady paste Slowly after that you will see the other titles come in and out of the screen distinctly and appear and disappear as the intro continues.
