Editing blog: Music Video

Me and my partner begun editing our music video on December 6th. During this project, the editing portion was fairly easy. The amount of practice that my partner and I have had from doing other projects has definitely paid off for this major project. My partner and each filmed the music video at our houses due to safety reasons. It was very easy for us to get our parts in and send it over to each other. As you know, my partner, Aniya Smith, played Usher and I played r Kelly. My part of the music video was first, so that was the clip that was inserted and edited first. All the clip needed was some trimming, so it didn’t take long. The longest clip out of the both of us was mine which consisted of 25 seconds. The rest were under 15 seconds or so. Since we were doing a music video, most of the clips were us lip-syncing. The made the editing even easier. easy, all we had to do was transfer the clips of the person lip-syncing to the person who was speaking.

After inserting all the clips and trimming them, we then had to worry about transitions. Applying the transitions of the video was also easy. We didn't use any major transitions in the video besides from in the beginning. We did that so that the music video doesn't look too plain and viewers would want to watch. The camera angles that was used during this music video were the basic camera angles that we would use for any other video such as head shots, close ups, and upper angles. Both of our settings were different, she had a setting in her living room while mine was in my room in my home. The settings in the video were raw and unedited because they are safe places in our homes where privacy was restricted, and it also was a good recording place as it was spacious and quiet so that we could work better. We each recorded our clips and edited what needed to be edited on the separate clips then sent them over, Aniya did most of the transitions. Overall, editing was a very easy process. I personally think that it would have been harder if we did it any other way or if we did a different song. The thought process of the video and how we completed it in the end was very worth it.
