Music Video: Creative critical reflection

1. How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?  Conventions are the generally accepted ways of doing something. My product more so of uses conventions rather than challenges them. The conventions of a music video, shot wise, are long shots, close ups, and mid shots. In my music video, many close up shots and mid shots were used. The close up shots that were used shows emotions. For example, in the music video, R Kelly and Usher, figured out that they were messing with the same girl which caused them to show sadness and disbelief. The close up shots are what captured their emotion the most. These close up shots represents how people of the same group are often interested in the same thing. For instance, a group of basketball players will most likely all be interested and want the new basketball shoes that came out but there are only a limited amount made. This can cause an issue much like it did in the music video. 2. How doe...

Music Video: Finished Product

This is the second film project I have ever did. I can say that I have made an ample amount of progress since the first one, which was a 30 second commercial. Due to this being my second film project, I didn't run into as many problems as I did the fist time. But, I did encounter a few. One of the problems that my partner and I encountered was actually filming. Due to the pandemic, we couldn't film in the same place like we originally thought we would. Speaking of "we", yes, this project was a partner thing. This was the first film project that I did with a partner. Having a partner made some parts easier. For example, during the first filming project, I had to do all the blogs myself. Having a partner allowed me to catch a break. Having a partner also helped me remember when certain things were due. This particular film project has taught me even more about filming over all. It has taught me how to incorporate different things when doing a long storyboard. It has als...

Editing blog: Music Video

Me and my partner begun editing our music video on December 6 th . During this project, the editing portion was fairly easy. The amount of practice that my partner and I have had from doing other projects has definitely paid off for this major project. My partner and each filmed the music video at our houses due to safety reasons. It was very easy for us to get our parts in and send it over to each other. As you know, my partner, Aniya Smith, played Usher and I played r Kelly. My part of the music video was first, so that was the clip that was inserted and edited first. All the clip needed was some trimming, so it didn’t take long. The longest clip out of the both of us was mine which consisted of 25 seconds. The rest were under 15 seconds or so. Since we were doing a music video, most of the clips were us lip-syncing. The made the editing even easier. easy, all we had to do was transfer the clips of the person lip-syncing to the person who was speaking.   After inser...
